Description: Tāwharau Collection Vol. II – Upcycled Koti (jacket)

One-of-a-kind, poly/cotton work overalls cut to make a jacket, reimagined through a Māori lens and urban flair. Each piece is hand-printed and painted, telling its own indigenous narrative, no two are the same.
These are locally sourced, up-cycled with aroha, and designed for the bold, the conscious, and the unapologetically stylish.

Kaupapa behind the design: Ngāi Tūhoe

This garment carries whispers of Te Kohu, with stylised tohu that speak to the essence of Tūhoetanga (seen through Nichola’s creative lens).

Symbols honouring Rua Kēnana, the sacred peak of Maungapōhatu, the enduring strength of mana motuhake, and the pride of the Tūhoe flag.

Each mark, each stroke, each shape, each symbol and colours, is a tribute to my whānau, and the stories from our whakapapa.
